Wombourne Oly. 3 Wordsley Wasps 0 (25.9.05)
VICTORY AT LAST
Wombourne were finally rewarded for their hard work and improved displays with 3 points against Wordsley Wasps. Wombourne went into the game without left-winger, Seb Kinsey, whilst Wordsley were only able to field 11 fit players. Wombourne dominated the early stages of the game but were initally unable to score. The breakthrough came after 15 minutes when Nick Woods was through on goal but squared the ball unselfishly for Toby Shaw to slot home from close range. Wombourne controlled the rest of the half, but Wordsley almost drew level before the break, when poor Wombourne defending allowed them through on goal. Only luck and poor finishing by Worsdley kept Wombourne ahead at the break. The subs were introduced at half-time and Wombourne continued to dictate the game. A second goal came on 40 minutes, when Dan Albrighton, who had an inspired second half, fed a neat through ball in for Jordan Collier to finish. Wordlsley counter-attacked and could have scored, when a ball in from the left went under 'keeper Skidmore but just beyond the advancing Wordsley striker. Wombourne were awarded a penalty a short time later and Matt Guise steped up to take the kick. Unfortunately, he was unable to outfox the 'keeper who stood up and saved Matt's shot at the middle of the goal. The game was sealed on 55 minutes, when the Wordsley 'keeper could only parry a Jake Bond shot, from which Curtis Blunt converted the rebound. Wombourne had the points in the bag but there was still drama when, in the dying minutes Wordlsey were awarded a direct free kick on the edge of the Wombourne penalty area. The well struck shot took a defelcttion but was well saved, and held, by Josh Skidmore, who kept his first clean sheet of the season. A fine performance from the boys. The only downside being a dissapointing second-half booking for Josh Green for dissent. Man of the match was Central defender Matt Price who cut out a number of atacks with well-timed challenges. The victory sees Wombourne leap up the table to 9th place. Next week Wombourne travel to Wordlsey Park for a match against Brockmoor, who suffered their first defet of the season his afternoon against Bartley Green South.

quote..from The Special one Report .The only downside being a dissapointing second-half booking for Josh Green for dissent Mmmmmmm I agree always sad to see problems with behaviour on and off the pitch... Football is a fast paced game and tempers can raise on occassions..but sadley discent seems to be on the rise...we must do all we can to instill into our young players a code of good conduct!!!!

Match Report:
THINGSW TAKE SHAPE BUT WOMBOURNE PUNSIHED ON COUNTER-ATTACK
Wombourne changed their shape and played with two wide attacking players and a lone striker, in a game which they domintated, but were punished by good finishing by the home side. Wombourne started well, with Jordan Collier looking threatening in front of David Sutton on the right. The home side took the lead though as Wombourne were caught flat-footed by a Brockmoor counter attack, which was well finished from distance. Zak Evans replaced an injured Matt Price in defence and a late arriving Seb Kinsey joined the attack on the left, as Wombourne pressed forward. The equaliser came from a goalmouth scramble where Jordan Collier drove the loose ball home. Wombourne almost added a second when Seb headed Jordan's cross just wide. Brockmoor went 2-1 up before the break, however, through another well-finished counter-attack. The remaining sub's took the field at half-time, with Wombourne again pressing and Josh Green linking up well with Seb on the left. Jake Bond was unlucky not to score with a volley from an excellent cross from Seb. Brookmoor made it three though, with another counter-attacking goal and Josh Skidmore came out well to prevemt them scoring a fourth, on a day when he had relatively little to do. Wombourne have now played together for a month and the team is begining to take shape. The remaninder of October's fixtures are announced on Tuesday and should be kinder to the Olympics. More performances like today's will surley see the boys startt a steady climb up the table

Kingswinford 9, Wombourne 0 (9.10.05)
A REALLY BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE
Wombourne took on mid-table Division One side, Kingswinford North, in this 1st round cup tie. Wombourne started well and matched Kingswinford for the first 15 minutes, with the scores remaining even and very little goalmouth action. Kingswinford took the lead with a breakaway goal and added a second minutes later. A third goal, which appeared clearly offside, came shortly before half-time. The linesman's flag was raised but overuled by the referee, who had already stopped play for 3 minutes due to suufering from cramp?. A vocal exchange just before half-time resulted in an enforced change of linesman by Wombourne before the second half. Things went from bad to worse, with Wombourne continuing to leak goals due to poor defending. Heads began to drop on the Wombourne side, resulting in the second half becoming a stroll in the park for Kingswinford as they added a further 6 goals. The day was rounded off at full-time by Wombourne's keeper Josh Skidmore being booked for (politely) criticising the referee's performance. A dissapointing day, which had started well but fell apart as the match went on.
